About the Author
In 1989, Jim Weiss set out on a mission: to record the greatest stories he knew from world literature and history, and inspire families -- especially young listeners -- with a passionate love of the original classics. In the three decades since then, Jim's narration voice and seemingly numberless character voices have formed foundational entertainment and education for millions of listeners around the world. Winning hundreds of awards, Jim’s recordings range on the literary side from fairy tales through stories from Shakespeare, Dickens and Conan Doyle, while his history recordings bring to vivid life major historical events and personalities from the ancient world through the twentieth century. These stories were wonderful. We like a lot, in fact most, of the Jim Weiss CDs, but this one does stand out for my science-loving kids. The 6yo, 8yo and 11yo all enjoyed it and learned much about Archimedes especially. They all love to snicker and tell the funny about him running out from the bath without his toga when he found the solution to the king's problem. The telling makes Archimedes and history memorable and enjoyable to them, which is my goal.
This is a great collection of stories and I love the scientific theme. The stories frequently enter in to our day-to-day conversation around the house, and it's has a great way of explaining the lives of these great scientists who lived in difficult times but still managed amazing discoveries. Our girls (6-10 yrs) love this one.
My 5.5 year old son has had this in his CD player for weeks, he loves to listen to it as he drops off to sleep! He's learning about early astronomers and being so entertained!I love great hall productions because I know all their material ia child appropriate and I don't need to pre listen to each CD.
Truly a marvelous work. Weiss’ vocal delivery is wonderful and captivating. The historical details and storytelling are spot-on. I will be buying more of these titles.

Isn't Jim Weiss amazing? This is the newest addition to my 8-yr-old son's dozen-or-so collection of Jim Weiss CDs. He listens to one every single night, and it really helps him get to sleep. Every time he gets a new one, I lay with him and listen to it with him the first time. The CD's are very near and dear to his heart, and I know it will be a happy memory of his childhood for his whole life.
Jim Weiss audiobooks are the best, I don't get tired of listening to them multiple times with my four year old, this one in particular goes a bit over her head at times but she just asks me what is happening when she gets lost, get them!
