About the Author

János Fischer is a Senior Research Scientist at Richter Plc., Budapest, Hungary. He received his MSc and PhD degrees in organic chemistry from the Eotvos University of Budapest under Professor A. Kucsman. Between 1976 and 1978, he was a Humboldt Fellow at the University of Bonn under Professor W. Steglich. He has worked at Richter Plc. since 1981 where he participated in the research and development of leading cardiovascular drugs in Hungary. His main interest is analogue based drug discovery. He is the author of some 100 patents and scientific publications. Since 2014 he is Chair of the Subcommittee on Drug Discovery and Development of IUPAC. He received an honorary professorship at the Technical University of Budapest. Wayne Childers is Associate Professor of Pharmaceutical Sciences at Temple University, Philadelphia, USA. Wayne received his BA (1979) degree from Vanderbilt University in chemistry and PhD (1984) in organic chemistry from the University of Georgia under the direction of Harold Pinnick. He served as an Assistant Adjunct Professor at Bucknell University before accepting a position as a postdoctoral fellow at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine in the laboratories of Dr. Cecil Robinson. He then joined Wyeth Research, Inc., working in numerous therapeutic areas, including psychiatric diseases, stroke, and Alzheimer's disease, and the treatment of chronic pain. He stayed with Wyeth for 22 years, before joining the faculty of Temple University in 2010.

This book is excellent over all, with some great ideas for lawyers who are uncomfortable with the idea of rainmaking. Unfortunately, Kindle readers will find reading the book unnecessarily difficult, with poor formatting, headings in the wrong places, paragraph breaks in the middle of sentences, etc.

Unfortunately, the primary focus of this book is on how to get more business from the clients you already have, or get them to introduce you to new clients. For the attorney trying to start his or her own business without the benefit of already having clients, the advice on cultivating existing relationships is mostly aspirational. These are things you could do to get more clients once you have clients, but there's too much assumption that you already have clients to begin with.

The Reluctant Rainmaker should be required reading for all attorneys and law students. Why? Many legal professionals struggle with marketing their practices without feeling like they're selling. Attorney Julie Fleming is a legal industry insider - she shows lawyers how to grow their law firms (aka law businesses) with practical guidance and easy to apply tips. It's a must buy.

This a good compilation of all of the rainmaking work I should be doing. I really liked how she broke out tactics for associates, which helps me focus my efforts now.What is terrible is the formatting for kindle. For example, there are paragraph breaks in the middle of sentences on almost every page. It's not unreadable, but it's definitely annoying.

Very practical and detailed ways to boost rainmaking efforts with external resources made readily available. I recommend this book to veteran and rookie rainmakers.

Note: This review is for the second edition of the ebook.Great reference guide for a newly licensed practitioner. This book complements my other books for new practitioners by authors: David Maister and Ronald J. Baker.

Personally, I don't even want to add a star up there in posting a review. Please don't buy this book, as it's a total misrepresentation of history. The protagonist in this book is a Japanese girl who lived in the northern part of Korea with her family in 1945. The book doesn't address anything about why her family lives in Korea in the first place and then retells the harrowing experience of her escape only after decades of adult life but does not fully describe the context of the setting. She conveniently skips the fact that her parents were imperialist occupants and that her father was a war criminal. Under the Japanese occupation, Koreans were faced with discrimination, persecution, inferior treatment, forced medical experiment, forced sex slavery, forced military draft to fight for Japan and resistance was met with execution and captivity. In fact, my maternal grandfather was jailed for participating in the resistance and died within 6 months of release due to physical punishment and deterioratIng health. This was when he was only 41 years of age. There is a justified reason as to why Koreans and Chinese still linger pain and agony from this period. There's a reference of bamboo trees in the cover illustration and the title, but honestly, there are not many bamboo trees in Korea, especially north because the ideal climate is in the southern region. There may be truth to her story of the ugly side of war but when the war was over, Korea wanted all the occupants out and no harm was done as they left. While the Nazi members and sympathizers were punished and the story of Jewish Holocaust retold to the world, the victims of horrendous killings and torture, rape and persecution by Koreans and China are not. To this day, many Japanese military ranks are still honored in their enshrined tombs even though they have been found guilty as war criminals. Would it be all right if the story was told from a girl of a Nazi family as the victim and Jews as the perpetrater? It's outrageous and only diminishes the atrocities Japanese have done in the past.This book is NOT appropriate for middle schoolers as it only confuses kids and promotes racial bias and hate toward Koreans.

This book was banned in Korea and China, and some of the State Boards of Education. Maryland and California pulled it from their required reading list for their 6th and 7th graders. Is this book worth reading? Judge it for yourself.1. First, this book speaks about a young girl being raped.Hardly seems an appropriate subject for 6th or 7th graders.2. Though it is classified as a "historical fiction" and therefore, it is allowed some elaboration, the history is so distorted in this book, particularly the roles of Japan and Japanese during WWII. The main character, a young Japanese girl, whose family flees Korea at the end of WWII, is raped by a Korean man. The book implies that it was not uncommon for Korean men to rape Japanese women. Highly improbable and disputable. Come on, just because it is a fiction does not mean it has to be a fantasy!3. After reading, some 6th and 7th grade students expressed anti-Korean sentiments, and some Korean-American students refused to return to school for feeling shame about their ethnicity based on how this book portrayed the Koreans. This book retaliates against another race and builds racial hatred.INTERESTING IRONY:During WWII, Japan "took" out of Korea tens-of-thousands of girls, some as young as 10-year-old to their soldiers in Japan and greater Asia as "comfort women", who were forced into prostitution. Many of them died of syphilis or committed suicide, and the survivors never returned to their families after the war because of the utter humiliation and psychological damage. Japan still claims that these "women" (not "girls") were voluntary prostitutes.

This book was not appropriate for middle school students. I don't know why the school board assigned it for summer reading!

This book taught me so many things, such as the factual history, the racial difference, survival ways, the importance of peace. There are a few comments in the notes from publisher, which many historians cannot agree with because, I assume, they have not updated some historical facts, and the book is a lack of a literary touch for adults, but it is well worth reading.

I could not find one dish in it that I did not want to try.Even has a shrimp section with a foreword from Bubba of Forrest Gump fame.Lots of super pictures, that made you want to eat the pages.One of the recipes is for Ranch Dressing that you can make without all the harmful ingredients of store bought hidden valley with all the MSG and other garbage.All step by step in easy to understand format and terms.I hope this author comes out with a sequel to this cookbook.

Amazon sent me this cookbook to review and I wish I could give this more than 5 stars!Every recipe looks delicious and I’m a picky eater. Tons of food and drink recipes!Easy to follow step-by-step directions for each meal. You’re meals will actually look like the pictures. Best part is the “adult” section in the back with spins on traditional drinks

This has some really good recipes and quite a few that I think can easily be tweaked to be vegetarian, and plenty that already contain no meat. I mean, smoked gouda cornbread? delish! There are recipes of every type, side dishes, main dishes and even adult beverages! Recommended.

Please take my rating with a grain of salt. Sometimes I'll select a cookbook based on curiosity and that's the case with "Buttermilk & Bourbon: New Orleans Recipes with a Modern Flair" by Jason Santos. The pictures are great and the instructions are clear and nicely laid out. It definitely is a cookbook of regional food with some twists (ex: jalapeno syrup).That said, most of the recipes are out of my range. The ingredients are not readily available where I live (ex: heirloom tomatoes are hard to find in my area) or it just seems like the recipes need a lot of time to prepare. As I've gone through the recipes, I think there is just one recipe that I could even attempt with items in my pantry at the present moment. That would be Southern Style Potato Salad although I don't have red wine vinegar and I'd have find a substitute for red bliss potatoes.As such, I think the cookbook is for a specific audience who has the time and access to try these recipes. It definitely is for a household who knows their way around the kitchen a lot more than I. So for myself, this cookbook is about a 3-star but that is in the sense that it doesn't quite fit for me.

I’ve been waiting for months for this book and it finally is here and did not disappoint at all. Unlike most cookbooks, this one has so many recipes that a home chef would actually sit down to make. This book is extremely appealing to the reader.

Big Flavor. Big Personality. Unforgettable Southern Cuisine...says it all. Had the pleasure of experiencing some of these dishes in his restaurant so when the cook book went on preorder I had to find out how to make the fried chicken and biscuits.
