Jason has authored the definitive text on John Dee and his impact on our modern culture. The book provides a great overview of Dee's life, from his early years to his death, and traces the root of his ideologies from before his birth up through today. It's both enlightening and frightening, and also very necessary to understand where we are, how we got here, and where we may be going. I've read it once and am already re-reading it. For anyone interested in the occult and how it can manifest in reality. Kudos.
Jason Louv's book is amazing. He's done a huge amount of work with this text, delivering great substance with approachable and well-crafted prose. He weaves together a meticulous record of John Dee's oeuvre and personal biography, a deep-felt enthusiasm for the angelic realms and a unique view of the geo-political and cultural forces in play over the past 500 years. His book seems like a true labor of love, and demonstrates profound respect for its subject matter. I found it engaging, humanizing, authoritative and accessible. It convincingly links Dee's groundbreaking spiritual and political experiments to cultural reverberations that seem to grow more intense every day. The book left me feeling even a bit connected to the angels, considering them as still being here, trying to communicate with us, offering to help save us from ourselves.
Jason's work adequately sums up centuries of occult history that I've spent years trying to peice together and organize in my mind. I feel like it could have said a lot more about modern times and recent events, but overall this was one of the most satisfying books I've read in a while.
I ordered this book after listening to Jason Louv's interview on Occulture podcast. I skipped to the end of the book and read from the chapter on Crowley onwards to the end of the book. Jason Louv is an excellent writer and through his meticulous research and grokking of the data paints a terrifying picture of how John Dee's work with Enochian Magic has led to the apocalyptic times we live in. This man knows his stuff and has beautifully connected all of the occult dots.I look forward to reading the rest of the book and believe that I will enjoy it just as much as I did the end of it. Even if I don't I'd still give it five stars for the last chapters alone. I believe this brilliant work will one day be an occult classic. Highly recommended.I will update my review once I've completed the rest of it.
lOUV HAS THE AMAZING ABILITY to uncover very old knowledge and piece it together unlike any other author I have seen. I saw a review stating wickedness. Well this actually has proof and the actions of Dee were shown true as they took place. Sorry so many still follow Gods that never show themselves nor help poor innocent children being trafficked worldwide for disgusting activities. Only we can stop it. No God that ignores such things as previously stated is either not your God and you are a fool or made up to control people through the fear of hell and still these people are fools. Bravo on this work of art.

Wow I am glued to this book today. This is eloquently written with vast knowledge of concepts and people through time and thought. It’s not light reading. So far only on chapter 3 and my brain is on fire!!
